FOR KIDS

Library use instruction

  • The basic aim of library use instruction is to help students acquire knowledge about tools that they can use to gain and process information. In our library pupils are given lessons about library use regularly from first class.

Optional!

  • Since 2005, it has become a tradition that we organize a playful competition in conjunction with required primary school readings.
  • The author and the title of the required reading must be indicated on the entry by classes 3-8. Each class gets tasks only about their own required reading.
  • The competition takes place per novels, depending on the number of applicants 4-6 teams get into the final, which are organized by age groups Written and oral tasks are to be solved but the upper classes have to use the Internet, too.
  • Teams of 5-8 members can apply. An institution can enter more teams per classes and readings. The semi-finals take place during the first week in May, the finals during the last week of May. We have also started a blog.

Road safety education

  • The Tiszaföldvár City Library and the Tiszaföldvár Police Headquarters has organized road safety lectures since 2004 for primary school students.
  • Since 2010 Ószőlő Deposit Library in cooperation with the Civil Guard Association of Tiszaföldvár has organized the lessons. The lecturer, László Kecse, retired police warrant officer and the president of the Civil Guard Assosiation of Tiszavöldvár undertook teaching as a society work.
  • Every year in spring and autumn, the city's three primary schools' lower class students visit the deposit library, where they can get very useful information and advice about pedestrian and bicycle traffic rules.
They can learn playfully about Highway Code signs, regular bike equipment, various traffic situations and safe transportation on the roads. In our experience, all the teachers and the children enjoy the lessons. In recent years, more than 1,400 elementary school students have participated in the courses.
  • To wind up the course we organize a bicycle highway code competition every spring. The competition consists of theoretical and practical parts. Children have to fill in a test and perform on a built obstacle course with a minimum number of errors. About 80-100 students participate in the cycling competitions.

Find it in the library!

  • It is a multi-stage game, especially for Papp Bertalan Ószőlő Primary School students. It is for 2-8 classes who in class pairs do different exercises on a task sheet. We evaluate them per rounds and at the end of the year. The results are also counted in the school championship.
